In addition to the main park area, the national park contains extensive wilderness areas that lie primarily on the north and south side of Lemmenjoki River. Most of the waters in the permit area are situated in the main park section and the wilderness on the north side of the river. The permit area contains both running waters and small lakes. The area includes tributaries of Lemmenjoki, including M&aacute;ttit Ravadas and Searitjoki, and the headwaters of the Rivers Vaskojoki and Postijoki, among other destinations.
